In memory of the fighters at Arihova Peč who fell in February 1945
This winter walk commemorates the eight female and male partisans who, in February 1945, sought refuge in a cave beneath Arihova Peč and were murdered by SS units after being betrayed. Their names are inscribed on a memorial at the Šentjakob cemetery, serving as a reminder of their courage in the anti-fascist resistance. Since 1979, the Slovenian Mountaineering Association of Klagenfurt, the Slovenian Sports Association and the Slovenian Educational Society ‘Rož’ have been organising a commemorative walk on the first Sunday in March – as a sign of remembrance and a commitment to freedom and human dignity.
